Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the directory secure? Who has access?
All
of the information and services in the on-line alumni directory are
password-protected and available only to registered users. Alumni have
the option of suppressing information that they do not wish to appear
on the system. That is, users may turn off particular information
fields in their listings to prevent them from being viewed by other
users. Only you can access your personal information.
2. What if I don’t want my information listed?
No
problem. Simply complete the registration process and proceed to the
on-line alumni directory. Follow the link labeled ‘Update your On-line
Profile’ and follow the instructions for modifying your directory
listing preferences. This page will allow you to specify what items, if
any, you would like to be displayed in the directory.
3. How can the directory be used?
The on-line
alumni directory is intended for use by alumni for the purposes of
improving communications among alumni and between alumni and the
University. As such, it is for official University use, alumni
association use and individual alumni use for communication of a
personal nature between members. Use of this directory for any
other purpose (including, but not limited to, reproducing and storing
in a retrieval system; creating mailing lists or otherwise using the
addresses or other information contained in this directory for any
commercial or political mailing) is a violation of copyright and is
prohibited.
4. How can I update my information?
If you are
already a registered user of the on-line alumni directory, simply log
in and follow the link to ‘Update your On-line Profile.’ There you’ll
be able to submit any name, address, or employment changes. If you are
not currently a registered user of the on-line alumni directory, please
click here to REGISTER. If you have any questions, please contact the alumni office at alumni@transy.edu.
5. What if I didn’t graduate from Transylvania University?
If
you successfully completed one academic year at Transylvania, but did
not graduate, we still consider you part of our alumni family! Most
likely, we already have you listed in the alumni directory. If so, you
can REGISTER
in the on-line community. If not, it may take us some time to verify
your attendance at Transylvania with the registrar’s office. You will
receive notification when your account is ready to go.
6. How do I submit a class note to The Transylvania Magazine?
If
you are already a registered user of the on-line alumni directory,
simply log in and follow the link to ‘Add/Maintain My Notes.’ If you
would like to submit a picture with your class note, please follow the
directions to upload a photo into your class note. If you are not
currently a registered user of the on-line alumni community, please
click here to REGISTER. If you have any questions, please contact the alumni office at alumni@transy.edu.
7. What should I do if I think someone is misusing the directory?
For more information on proper usage of the directory, please read our usage policy and privacy policy.
If you feel another user is abusing his or her directory privileges,
please report this to the alumni office by emailing all pertinent
information to alumni@transy.edu. You may also call Natasa Pajic, director of alumni programs, at (800) 487-2679.
8. What if I don’t want my e-mail address published? Can fellow alumni still contact me?
Yes!
We have added a security measure to prevent e-mail abuse. When you
agree to let other alumni contact you by e-mail, they will not be able
to see your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail through the
on-line community from the alum who is trying to contact you. You will
be able to view his or her e-mail address and may choose whether to
respond. If you do not respond, your e-mail address will not be
revealed. In order for the other alum to see your e-mail address, you
must respond. In this way, you are in control of which alumni have
access to your e-mail address. If you do not choose to allow alumni to
contact you by e-mail, they may contact you by phone and/or mail if you
allow these fields to be viewed.
