Natasa's Notes

Fellow Pioneers,

As 2016 draws to a close, I wanted to let you know of a few things the alumni office is working on for the New Year. You may notice the "volunteer" button on the right. This is a new way for you to let us know the way(s) you would like to assist our alma mater. Both the Alumni Board and the Young Alumni Council will be going through the new member nominations process after the 1st of the year. If you are interested in getting more involved with Transylvania, please fill out the volunteer form.

For those residing or wintering in the Naples area, you'll want to take note of the date for the reception with President Carey on February 9. It's always a fun and well attended event and we are grateful to Betsy '76 and Tom Bulleit, Laura '75 and Aris '73 Candris and John and Donna Hall for hosting it.

We will be finalizing details for Alumni Weekend over the next month and hope you have saved April 28-30 on your calendar. Thank you for all you do to move our alma mater forward. May this holiday season and 2017 bring you joyous moments, good health and many personal and professional successes!

Yours in Transy Spirit,

Natasa Pajic Mongiardo '96
Director of Alumni Relations

Dr. Jack Furlong encourages, provokes and deepens students' own understanding
Philosophy professor Jack Furlong is retiring from teaching at Transylvania at the end of the year. Having been here since 1989, he taught his last class in Haupt Humanities last week. Dr. Furlong has influenced many students over the years. He believes he is "of best use to students when he encourages, provokes, and deepens their own understanding, and pushes them to take intellectual risks." We wish Dr. Furlong all the best in retirement. Click title to read more.
